My application to the FIU Masters program in Construction Management got some push back from the admissions department. I was wait listed and they requested I take the GRE, which is weird since I more than met their admission requirements and had a 3.4 GPA in route to earning my MBA. Oh well, I am now looking past FIU and onto Drexel which is a much better school anyway. I am also considering just attending the NAIOP or ULI programs in Real Estate Development and just studying up for the General Contractors exam and skipping all of this college stuff.
I was accepted to the University of South Florida program for Community Real Estate Development, which I will be attending. I am looking forward to attending this one of a kind program. I will help greatly with development opportunities in the future. Part of the course curriculum is to plan an actual project.
This is a three-module program is designed to give participants the tools to carry out successful, affordable housing and community development initiatives. It supports the work of non-profit community-based and public agencies involved in or responsible for the delivery of community and economic development related services.
I actually applied to the Masters of Science in Construction Management program at Florida International University (FIU). It is kind of funny. I began my college journey in Miami and just might finish it there. FIU has an excellent program and since I am a state resident of Florida, the tuition would be significantly cheaper than if I were to attend Drexel University whom also has a great program.
I sort of feel like FIU is calling me home. So, FSU to FIU. Wow, I kinda like it. I would have to take a couple courses at San Diego State University that are required by FIU in addition to two classes offered at FIU before beginning the 36 hour journey to achieving the diploma. One class they have that is hard to find is Sitework. It is all about land planning and how to get that raw piece of dirt ready for vertical development.
I have always liked land and have had that desire in development in order to create markets, not just live and work in them. The program at FIU is the only school in Florida that is offering a MS in Construction Management that is completely online. I just sent my application off and can't wait to hear the results. I spoke with the main Professor today and he seems like a really nice guy. Either way, FIU or Drexel will be great schools to attend school. I am being pulled to FIU though since I have actually been on that campus and know people that went to school and/or held internships there. Florida International University. I just like the ring of that.
